Visit examples of good practice

Within the project "Reducing the impact of local communities in the cross-border region of Serbia and Montenegro on climate challenges - WE CAN", a study visit to examples of good practice was realized.

During the two-day study visit held on May 13 and 14, 2021 in Kraljevo, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the measures taken by the city of Kraljevo, which it is taking in order to reduce the negative impact on climate change, and especially on greenhouse gas emissions. On that occasion, the representatives of the municipality of Pljevlja with the way in which the city of Kraljevo announces a competition for the allocation of funds for the improvement of energy efficiency of residential buildings on the territory of this local self-government.

In the continuation of the visit, the participants visited the Public Energy Company "Toplana", where the director and experts from the company introduced them to the way of working and achievements in improving the efficiency of the system for the production of thermal energy. They also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities carried out on the installation of a 50kW solar power plant, as one of the activities of the "We Can" project.

In the afternoon program, a visit was made to the company "Radijator" from Kraljevo, where the participants were introduced to the company's production program, and special emphasis was placed on the company's efforts to monitor market trends and improve the product portfolio through innovative solutions and incentives for education, with objective to keep environment.

On the second day of the study visit, the Elementary School "Đura Jakšić" visited the branch in Mataruga. Participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the measures that the school is taking to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. The principal of the school also informed the attendees about the aspirations for the remaining two school buildings of this school to switch from fossil to renewable energy sources.

At the end of the post, the participants, with moderation, summarized the impressions of the study visit.

The “WE CAN” project is co-financed by the European Union within the financial instrument of pre-accession assistance (IPA II) through the Serbia-Montenegro Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2014-2020. The contract for co-financing with European Union funds was signed with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia - Sector for contracting and financing programs from European Union funds. The project is a partnership realization of two civil society organizations and two public companies: Association for the Development of the Ibar Valley "IDA" Kraljevo, Grijanje d.o.o. Pljevlja, Public Energy Company "Toplana" Kraljevo and the Center for Environmental Initiatives from Berane. The project is being implemented in partnership on the territory of the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro.
